This piece, designed as a house gift for Christie and Jay, hangs prominently on their bedroom wall in Rockport, Maine. Three separate panels by Hmong textile artists were incorporated into the design and construction of this wall hanging. The three heart panels have been delicately hand sewn using reverse appliqué. These handcrafted panels were then combined with batik fabric from Africa and the US Virgin Island of St John. The warm red, violet, and orange prints make this wall hanging vibrant and exciting. The edges of this gift piece were finished with double fold black binding to unify the colors in the African batik that borders the other bright batiks. Four quilted tabs have been attached on the top edge of the piece. A black ornamental rod (not pictured) threads through the four tabs and frames the piece as it hangs on display.
