We each have clothing favorites.
- These are the garments we gravitate to when we want to feel relaxed and comfortable.
- These are the garments we quickly throw on when we’re in a rush to dress, when we don’t have the time to think about coordinating this with that. We wear these favorites with anything because we love them and they’re safe.
- These are the garments we know will help us get through the day because we always feel our best when we wear them.
Do you have a clothing favorite in your closet that you’d gladly buy again if only you were able to find it?
ei of the needle can help you find it… again, and again, and again. Eileen will work with you to duplicate clothing favorites that are central to your wardrobe. Clothing suitable for duplication might include the following items: shirt, duster, vest, skirt, or jacket.
This process includes several distinct steps:
- Consultation. An examination of your favorite garment by Eileen will determine how involved the project will be. This determines the design fee.
- Design Fee. The Basic Design Fee to generate a pattern is $100. The Design Fee may increase depending on the complexity of the garment to be copied. Eileen will use your garment to draft a pattern, and will use that pattern to create a duplicate of your chosen wardrobe favorite. If there are design elements that you want to eliminate or modify (a pocket, a yoke on the back of a shirt) this will be discussed.
- Creating a Pattern. Generating a pattern from ready-made clothing requires technical precision. Using a technique that neither alters nor injures your garment, Eileen will draft a pattern that mirrors the measurements and details of the garment you want copied.
- Fabric Selection. Some clients specify the fabric they want. Others give general guidelines and then leave the fabric selection up to Eileen. A garment made from the same type of fabric (denim, corduroy, lightweight cotton) as the original will generally fit and drape the same. Selecting an entirely new type of fabric may result in a fit very different from the original garment. Eileen will insure that the fabric selected will be a good match for the pattern used.
- Construction. Once the pattern has been drafted and the fabric has been selected, the garment can be made. The construction process demands precision and experience. Eileen will insure that the completed garment meets those standards.
- Fees. The cost of a Custom Clothing Design has three components: Design Fee, Fabric Selection, and Construction. These will be determined during the Consultation, at the beginning of the project.
