ABOUT ei

Eileen has enjoyed a life-long love affair with both fabric and design. Taught to sew in elementary school by her mother, she started making her own clothes in 6th grade. In high school Eileen continued to sew, working by her mother's side designing and constructing evening gowns for the many formal events her parents regularly attended.

Eileen designed and sewed clothing for her three daughters from the time they were infants, making shorts and T-shirt sets, sweatshirts and leggings, on-ice attire for their figure skating and gymnastics activities, and special occasion dresses as the girls got older.

At Philadelphia Textile (now Philadelphia University) Eileen studied Pattern Draping and Pattern Grading. This armed her with the skills she needed to sew for women who admired the garments she designed and sewed for herself.

Eileen's many boxes of fabric, notions, and findings inspired her to host classes for children as well as children's craft parties. It was another creative way to utilize her stash of fabric, as well as the many colorful ribbons, buttons, and notions she had accumulated over the years.

These children's classes and parties evolved into a more formal instructional context when Eileen began teaching sewing. She taught beginning sewing in adult education classes. She also gave private sewing lessons, guiding beginners as well as experienced sewers to bolster their skills.

Eileen has been designing interior accents for years. Her work includes window treatments, decorative pillow accents, table coverings, and quilted wall hangings ranging from simple baby's room designs to sophisticated home and office décor.

Her work is now focused on producing Custom Fabric Designs on a project by project basis. Contact eileen, the ei of the needle to set up an appointment.
